Kentucky.

We just returned from a wonderful visit to Kentucky. Wilson was a real trooper with the 500+ mile road trip.  We arrived just before midnight on Thursday night so that we could enjoy a full 3 days of play time in our "Old Kentucky Home."

"Grandpa Jeff" keeps his hot tub cool for the summer. Their own little swimming pool. We may have a fishy on our hands. Wilson loves bath time even more now!

Fussy & Fun.

It is the beginning of another busy week. Our weekend felt busy too.  We had planned to visit some friends, the Sprouse family for Scott's surprise birthday party. But with a fussy baby, we decided at the very last minute to avoid the 3 hour one way road trip.  Probably turned out to be the best decision because Wilson was fussy for most of the day on Saturday. He has been working on his first tooth for about a month now, and the rough days seem to come and go.I thought that for sure we'd see that tooth this weekend, but we did not. 

Sunday he was in a much better mood. I found my camera (hooray!) so I was able to get a few shots of our cute little guy.  He apparently enjoys playing UNDER his jumper. 

 And of course, who needs toys when we have trash! He REALLY likes this empty baby wipes package!

 Wilson is 5 months old today! Where have the last 22 weeks gone! This month we couldn't find the camera. I am quite certain I saw it in the kitchen and picked it up to take to the Favorites Party last weekend. From there, I have no idea what I did with it. It is a shame too, because the little guy was quite the subject today. These cell phone photos will have to do. 

We are having a great time playing with Wilson. In fact, he is learning how to really play and has even made up a little game with his dad.

He can sit up for a few seconds on his own and can roll and scoot on his tummy to get where he wants to go.  No crawling yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened at any moment.

Next week we get to visit KY for a friends wedding and we can't wait to take him to play with his buddy Zella.

Grateful.

Some words to live by.

 I found this on my new obsession, Pinterest. It is really ringing through my head, and my heart. We have so many things to be grateful for each day but sometimes the business of our lives can get in the way. I'm trying to make it a point to do just what this says, and start each of my days with a grateful heart.

We had another lovely weekend that passed entirely too quickly. Friday night we caught up with our friend's the Smith's. While the boys watched some preseason football, we ladies took out the power drill and put together a play house for Colin.  I'm sure he'll get a lot of play out of it and have it nice and broken in by the time his baby brother arrives at Christmas. 

Saturday we packed up all of Wilson's necessities and headed to Nana's for a quick visit to celebrate Uncle Kevin's 20th birthday. Wilson was a little worn out so we had to call it an early night.  Sunday afternoon Ashley picked me up and and we headed off to "Joy's Mountain Top" in WV for a Favorites Party. It was a great afternoon of mommy time, making new friends and eating some delicious food.

I failed to take any photos with my real camera but here is a fun cell phone photo of Wilson in his brand new highchair. Thank goodness for those straps. He cannot climb out of the seat and this makes feeding time a lot easier for everyone!

Real Food.

Wilson had his first taste of real food this weekend...If you call rice cereal "real food."  He was quite the little wiggle worm in his Bumbo and even pulled the tray off and tossed it aside. I had to hide the bowl from him to keep him from grabbing for it. And, he wanted so badly to hold the spoon all by himself.  He is quite the independent little man.  

All in all he seemed to kind of like it, but just wasn't very pleased with the speed in which the cereal would enter his mouth. We're going to give it a full week of testing at home before we introduce one daycare cereal feeding too.  We will also be investing in an official highchair TODAY!

Sleep.

It seems that as a new mommy, one question most people ask when they first meet Wilson is "How does he sleep?" We really can't complain about the little guy's sleeping habits. From the start he has been a pretty good sleeper. When we first brought him home, he would sleep for 2 hour stretches from 9PM until 6AM. 2 hours soon turned into 3 and then 4. On the night of Aunt Katie and Uncle Brent's wedding, he gave us his first 6 hour sleep. This was an excellent first Mother's Day gift for Mommy! Once we started school (daycare) he began falling asleep by 7/7:30PM and waking only once during the night. And last night Wilson fell asleep at 7pm. He stirred at about 11:15 and I went in to give him his pacifier. He instantly was back to sleep and he didn't make a peep until 5:50AM! Of course, I woke up about 3 different times to check on him. I am certain this is just a one time thing. It can't possibly last, especially when there is a tiny white threat of a tooth beginning to make its way through the bottom gums....
