pinteresting.

*Disclaimer* This post will not be all about Wilson. You're bummed. I know.

Michael likes to laugh when I get a crazy idea that I want to create something and then I go out of my way to get it done. In light of various projects around the house, I've been changing the furniture set up in our main floor living room. I opened up the area for more space, since we were having several guests for Thanksgiving this year. I love having more room on the main floor, but the living room needed something.

A coffee table.

So, the week before Thanksgiving-in addition to Wilson having surgery-I decided to build a coffee table.

I had seen this one on Pinterest. And decided I could pull it off in just a few short days. We visited one Michael's Craft Store and they were totally out of crates. (I get the feeling there might be a lot of people working on their Pinterest projects.) So the next morning I called around and found another store in the area that had the 4 we needed. After Michael's, it was off to Lowes. We had them cut the 2x4 exactly the way we needed it so we didn't have to do any sawing at home. Also at Lowes, we found the table legs (the idea of a table on wheels, with a toddler is not fun.) and the hardware needed to fasten the entire structure together. We had some left over stain from our floor project. Once the pieces had dried for 24+ hours, I was able to drill some holes, screw some screws and voila! Fancy new coffee table, just in time for Thanksgiving.

Seriously, all of the work-sans drying time-took a total of 3 hours. I love this table!

Can You Hear Me Now?

We are busy getting everything in order for an exciting Thanksgiving weekend. First thing on the list, get healthy!

Wilson has had 9 ear infections in his short 20 months. Three of these ear infections have come in the last 6 weeks! We visited an ENT practice last April to discuss getting tubes for his ears, but Michael and I didn't feel great about the practice. It seemed very much like a factory. Lucky for us, Wilson didn't have an ear infection all summer! We thought we might be in the clear. Until we visited Orlando at the beginning of October. Wilson spent his days swimming with GooMa (my mom) and ended up with a trip to urgent care to clear up a nasty ear and eye infection. Since then, he has had two more ear infections!

So, last Monday we visited with Dr. Silva. This ENT experience was a night and day difference from our visit to the other practice last spring. Dr. Silva was amazing in how he explained the procedure and the benefits of getting tubes put in Wilson's ears. I made the call that day and expected we would get surgery done sometime in Mid December. I was very surprised when they called and said that Tuesday, November 20th would be the day!

We woke our sweet little guy early this morning and quickly put him in the car to head to the hospital. We didn't want to have time for him to ask for chocolate milk (his current favorite).  He was excited to press the buttons on the elevator. He entered the surgery center and told the receptionist that we had arrived in the "blue car" and all about "Soccer. Calliou." which were the two things we discussed with Santa.

The procedure was over in a few short minutes and we were reunited with Wilson in recovery. He was pretty upset as he woke up in a strange place, but by the time we were in the car he was starting to recognize his surroundings and munched on crackers all the way home.  After a 3.5 hour nap, he woke up as spunky as ever.

Pre Op drawing time.

Telling the Pig all about the hospital and how they fixed his ears. Adorable.
This year, we are very thankful for the wonderful nurses at the INOVA Surgery Center and for Dr. Silva.

Treat!

Halloween was a real TREAT!

After two days of wind and rain, Wilson's daycare decided to cancel their Halloween parade. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see all of the kids dressed up. BUT we did have a great evening planned. I picked Wilson up a little early and we hurried home to gather our things and meet Michael. We headed over to the Smith's for some pizza, pictures and Trick-or-Treating. Colin is 11 months older the W and Evan is 9 months younger. Wilson loves to play with them both. Katie and I were a little nervous about how the boys would do going door to door, but I think having a buddy along helped them to be a little more confident.

I can't take credit for any of these photos. They are all from our talented friend, Katie Smith. She just took our family photos last weekend (before the storm) and I can't wait to see them!

Sweet Bee, Wilson and Loving Fireman, Colin.

The hood lasted all of 5 seconds.

"Trick-or Treat! Thank You! Bye-Bye"

Love it!
